LION HEAD BAROQUE 1/2 VIOLIN, ~1700

A well preserved child's 1/2 size baroque violin, around 1700, still with the original neck, which was extended at the heel for modern playing (can be built back to original baroque style angle), bearing a label: B. Ruggerius Cremonensis. This violin is in playing condition, but there are no strings and no bridge. The lion head beautifully carved, the highly flamed maple two piece back with several repaired cracks, the top with no cracks but with a round insert in the middle of the violin, the flamed sides in good condition. Overall length 54 cm, length of the body 30.8 cm, scale 29.5 cm, top of the body to the middle of the f-hole 17 cm, length of neck from nut to body 12.2 cm, rim 3.3 cm, upper bout 14.8 cm, middle bout 9.8 cm, lower bout 17.8 cm.




DANCEMASTER VIOLIN - POCHETTE, BAROQUE, ~1750

A dancemaster violin, Pochette, around 1750, in good playable condition, still bearing the original neck, the two piece plain back in good condition, the top also in nice condition with some surface scratches, the sides in good condition also with some scratches, ebony fingerboard and tailpiece, probably later boxwood pegs. Overall length 50 cm, body length 26 cm, scale 27.3 cm, top of the body to the middle of the f-hole 14 cm, neck from nut to body 13 cm, rim 3 cm, upper bout 10.9 cm, middle bout 7 cm, lower bout 14.5 cm.


DANCEMASTER VIOLIN - POCHETTE, BAROQUE, ~1700

An all original early baroque dancemaster violin, Pochette, around 1700, never changed, has still the original neck, fingerboard, pegs and tailpiece. The only visible damage to the violin are some worm holes, which has no influence on the stability of the instrument. The violin will be playable after the sound post is set. Overall length 48 cm, body length 23.8 cm, scale 27.5 cm, top of the body to the middle of the f-hole 13 cm, neck from nut to body 14.5 cm, rim 1.4 cm, upper bout 9.5 cm, middle bout 7 cm, lower bout 12.5 cm.


DANCEMASTER VIOLIN - POCHETTE, BAROQUE, ~1700

A well preserved dancemaster violin, Pochette, early baroque, around 1700, in playable condition. The rosewood body and neck interspersed with bone, no visible repairs, the top also in good condition, good ebony fingerboard and boxwood pegs, nicely carved flamed maple scroll, bone tailpiece. Overall length 45 cm, length of body 27.5 cm, scale 24.5 cm, depth 3 cm, middle bout 4 cm.


CHANOT TYPE DANCEMASTER VIOLIN, ~1800

A very well preserved and playable Chanot type dancemaster or 1/8 size child's violin, still bearing the original boxwood pegs, original ebony fingerboard and tailpiece, the one piece maple back with one repaired crack at the lower bout, the top in good condition, also the sides. Overall length 44 cm, length of body 22.2 cm, scale 23.5 cm, top of the body to middle of the f-hole 11.5 cm, neck from nut to body 11.7 cm, rim 3 cm, upper bout 11.3 cm, middle bout 8.4 cm, lower bout 13.9 cm.


1/32 CHILD'S VIOLIN,
~1820


A well preserved 1/32 child's violin made around 1820, everything seems to be original including ebony fingerboard and pegs, the nicely flamed one piece maple back with a repaired crack on the upper left side, the top with 2 repaired cracks, the sides in good condition with one repaired crack, tailpiece and bridge missing. Overall length 32 cm, length of body 18 cm, scale 17 cm, top of the body to the middle of the f-hole 9.6 cm, neck from nut to body 7.4 cm, rim 2.2 cm, upper bout 8.5 cm, middle bout 5.8 cm, lower bout 10.5 cm.
